This was the PERFECT ending to Maxon and America’s story! For them at least. I will be continuing with The Heir. I know some people just stop after the original trilogy, but I want to keep going and learn about their daughter. I hope it’s just as good!

This book took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I was angry, scared, sad, happy, shocked, and confused at some point in this book. Which should tell you how emotionally invested I was.

It’s going to be extremely hard to talk about this book without giving away any spoilers, so I’ll try to be as specifically vague as possible. LOL

One of my favorite things about this story in particular was that we got to see a different side of Celeste. I never thought we would see her in a new light, but I AM SO GLAD that Cass gave this to us. I didn’t realize how much I needed it and I actually started to really like her. However, Cass did throw a major plot twist at us regarding Celeste and it completely ripped my heart out!

There was no shortage of back and forth between Maxon and America in this book. They stayed true to this almost until the very end. But I’m glad they finally got it right in the end.

America goes through a whole heck of a lot in the book. Seriously, I feel bad for all the crap she went through. I almost cried for her a few times, but she was so strong and battled on through everything.

Another thing I really enjoyed was learning more about the Rebels. Specifically, the Northern Rebels because they didn’t turn out to be anything like what I was expecting. They actually prove to be a gosh darn lifesaver, I want to kiss their feet! The Southern Rebels gave me nothing but heartache and anxiety. I was a complete mess when it came to them.

I also really liked that there was a happy ending for more than just America and Maxon. There was also a happy ending for Aspen. I won’t go into details, but just know that this happens for him and it’s the BEST THING EVER!

There were a lot of characters lost in this book. Too, too many. And my heart breaks for pretty much all of them. My heart couldn’t take much more loss. There was one character that I couldn’t help by think GOOD FREAKING RIDDANCE though. I bet you can guess which one if you’ve read this book!

I can’t wait to see what became of Illea in the next book!

The next book in the series is The Heir

The Heir

I apologize that my review is a little bit all over the place. I had word vomit when it came to this books because I just needed to get everything out!

      1. They were. The fights were ridiculous: “You need to love only me but I’m not sure if I love only you.” What?? He’s looking to spend the rest of his life with someone, not go to Prom!! 😣
