Wish List Wednesday

Wish List Wednesday: Asher and Mitchell

Wish List Wednesday is brought to you by Pen to Paper.

For this weekly meme I’ll be discussing with you 1 or 2 books that are currently on my wish list.

This week I’ll be talking about Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and Because I Was Lonely by Hayley Mitchell.

“Thirteen Reasons Why will leave you with chills long after you have finished reading.” —Amber Gibson, NPR’s “All Things Considered”

You can’t stop the future.
You can’t rewind the past.
The only way to learn the secret . . . is to press play.

Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker—his classmate and crush—who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah’s voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out why.

Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah’s pain, and as he follows Hannah’s recorded words throughout his town, what he discovers changes his life forever.

I actually read this book when it first came out. I remember reading it in high school and thinking how incredibly sad it was. Well recently I heard that they are turning this into a TV show, a Netflix original I think, and it made me realize I really want to read it again. Especially because I plan to watch the TV show as well.

Meet Rachel. She’s trapped in a sleep-deprived world of misery and grief. She used to love being a wife and mum, but now life is a grown-up mess.
Meet Adam. He’s trapped in a world of grief and confusion. It wasn’t always like this, but since the accident, things have never been the same.
Rachel and Adam used to be friends, back in the days before marriage and babies… in the days before loneliness set in. Then along came Facebook. So when Rachel and Adam rekindle their online friendship, what starts as a little harmless flirtation soon becomes an obsession, and slowly the threads of their lives unravel before them.
Because I was Lonely traces the rollercoaster of actions and reactions experienced by a cast of credible, fallible, and ultimately human, characters. Hayley Mitchell carefully captures their emotions and handles the multiple viewpoints deftly, in this cleverly crafted, unputdownable debut novel.

Please forgive me for my poor memory, but I believe I saw this on a bloggers Standalone Sunday post and I found it extremely interesting that I added it to my want-to-read shelf on Goodreads. I mean the description is just so close to something that could happen in real life! I just want to read it ASAP and see what it’s all about. Plus it says its unputdownable. Is that even a word? IDC I need it now!

What do you think of the 2 books I chose to feature this week? Have you ever read either of these? Have you heard about the TV show for Thirteen Reasons Why?

More importantly, when will Because I Was Lonely be available for Kindle?! Does anyone know?
