The Questions
Alrighty, let’s get started!
1. Have you ever damaged a book?
Not that I can think of right off hand. I’m sure I have at some point even if it was just water damage from the rain. Luckily I only read eBooks now so it’s kind of hard to damage one that way.
2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
I’m normally really careful with books I’ve borrowed from the library or a friend/teacher. Again, it’s possible. But not that I can clearly remember.
3. How long does it take you to read a book?
That really depends on the book, when I’m trying to read it (all during the work week/ weekends), and how many pages it has. Typically I read books really quickly. My whole family comments about that.
4. Books that you haven’t finished?
I can only think of 1 book that I started reading and never finished. Fifty Shades of Grey. I know shame on me, but I really just wasn’t a fan. I couldn’t get interested in it. I even kept giving it chances. I even read half of the book before giving up! That’s my only DNF, I’m the type of person that if I start something I have to finish it.
5. Hyped/Popular books that you don’t like?
Again, for sure Fifty Shades of Grey. I have never read the Harry Potter books or any Stephen King book.
6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
LOL No, I can’t think of anything I would actually read that I wouldn’t want to tell anyone about.
7. How many books do you own?
As of Saturday October 15, 2016 at 8:09PM (obviously when I’m writing this) I have 180 books on my Kindle app. Which is pretty good considering I just switched over to eBooks sometime around the middle of the year.
8. Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?
Definitely a fast reader. But not like a speed reader because I can’t process what I’m reading. lol
9. Do you like to buddy read?
I’m not EXACTLY sure what you mean by that, but any scenario I can think of is a definite NO. I like to read at my own pace for as long or as little as I want. I don’t want another person to determine my reading pace (why I don’t do book clubs). I like when others have read the same books as I have so I can talk about the books with them, but other than that I’m a solo reader.
10. Do you read better in your head or out loud?
I never read out loud. So I guess that means in my head.
11. If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
AHHHHH, why one book? I could never imagine this scenario. How am I supposed to choose? Can I just glue a couple of them together and call it one book? LOL I’m not sure I could actually do this but for the purposes of this book tag, I would have to say…. for sure a Jodi Picoult book because she is just an amazing author. The exact book of her’s from the ones I have read, I would have to choose… Small Great Things. It’s such a powerful novel that could teach so many people so many things. It had a strong impact on me and I know it would on others as well. I love a book that can make you learn something about yourself and that’s exactly what it did. Huge eye opener.
I still need to read the Harry Potter series. I never read 50 Shades of Grey.

Glad I’m not the only one! In my opinion, you aren’t missing much by not reading 50 Shades of Grey. But I’m sure a lot of people would disagree. Lol

Haha, I disagree! Me! Well, kinda. LOL. The first time I read the books, I fell in love. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with them. But… The book community (and blogging on my own) has changed my mind. I read all three of them back in 2012. So my appreciation (and fondness) for them has lessened, as I only considered a 5* book in terms of how well I liked it. Before blogging, I did not take into consideration syntax, plot, characterization, diction, etc.. Basically all the elements I look for now.
I still like the books, just in a different way now. Yet I know for a fact if I were to go back and reread them, I would probably DNF with a 1* rating. I liked the first movie, but am on the fence about watching the second one when it comes out. Those books got me back into reading (after a 3 year long slump). It was so terrible. I hated it. But the books brought me out of it, and if I hadn’t read them, I definitely would not have started my blog.
Sorry for the long ass comment! Haha.

I’m so glad they pulled you out of your slump!! Whatever it takes to do that is awesome. I read that way way before I ever thought about blogging so I just didn’t finish it because I didn’t like it. It’s great to see your change of perspective though!
